PHOTO CARE AND FRAMING TIPS

PURCHASE INFORMATION: Please take note. I print and mat my photos one by one on an as needed basis. Many times I will have your purchased print available when you order, but there will be occasions that I will need to print and mat your photo when you place your order. Bear in mind that I cannot print, mat, and send your order on the same day. After the photo is printed, it will need to dry completely for at least five (5) days before I would ever consider shipping it. If this is the case, I will notify you of the delay via email  or phone.

Care and Framing Tips

Thank you for purchasing one of my photographs. I take great pride in my art, and strive to give you the best that I have. At Off My Front Porch, I do not mass-produce my photographs by using outside sources. I edit, print, mat, and seal each photo myself. By doing this, I can ensure that your photograph is the best your money can buy. My photographs might be a little more expensive than some others, but I process each photograph by using the best photo paper and photo inks available. Most of my photographs are printed on HP Premium Plus photo paper. It is the only paper that guarantees to be fade resistant for over 100 years. I also use HP Vivera photo inks. With proper care, your photograph will give you a lifetime of enjoyment, and will be a valuable keepsake to hand down to future generations.

Keep your photograph in the protective envelope it came in until you are ready to frame it. The envelope will protect it from dust, scratches, and moisture.

Remember to remove your photograph from the protective envelope when you do frame it.

If your photograph should get dusty, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. DO NOT USE WATER OR A SOLVENT, as this will ruin your photograph. Do not use a brush or paper towel, as these might scratch your photograph.

I recommend not prying off the matting. Photo tape is very strong, and taking the matting off could tear or damage your photograph. I use pre-cut matting that will fit standard frame sizes. The matting is in a neutral color to match any frame or décor.

When buying a frame, I suggest taking the photograph with you. I sell three (3) photo sizes:

Small 4x6” matted to fit a 5x7” frame

Medium 5x7” matted to fit an 8x10” frame

Large 8x10” matted to fit am 11x14” frame

Buy an open-back frame. If the frame does not come with clips to keep the photograph in place, you can buy them at most framing shops, and install them yourself, or the framing shop will be able to install them for you. There are many framing shops around to help you with your framing needs. You can find one in your area Yellow Pages.

Many frames do not come with fitted glass pane. Please consider fitting the front of your frame with glass. The glass will protect your photograph from dust and scratches. Again, your framing shop can assist you by cutting and fitting your frame with a glass frame.

Carefully consider where you are going to hang your photograph. For example, you would not consider hanging your photograph in a full bathroom, as the steam from your shower or bathtub could seep between the glass and the photograph, thus ruining it.

ENJOY!

I hope that you find these tips useful. If you have any questions, please Email me at
